Frequently asked questions about elite luxury travel and create my adventure

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What’s the difference between Luxury and Private Travel
A: While Private Travel can radiate luxury, luxury travel, can still be commercial. This includes top resorts and hotels, luxury touring companies, and cruises. Private Travel, on the other hand, is curated specifically for you and your guests, leaving the rest of the public out of it.

Q: What documentation will I need to travel?
A:
This will vary based on where you are going.
•If you are traveling domestically, you will need a valid Real ID-compliant driver’s license, state-issued ID card, or passport.
•To travel internationally, you will need a passport, and sometimes a visa.
•Depending on your destination and travel plans, you may need additional documents such as an International Driver’s Permit, a consent form for traveling with minors, proof of medical insurance, or proof of vaccinations.

Q: What kind of budget should I plan on for this type of vacation?
A:
While luxury and private travel will cost you more than your average trip to the beach, your budget will depend entirely on your own wants, needs, and travel style.

Take a look at my Destinations Page to get an idea of what to expect for the type of adventure you’re interested in. Keep in mind that you will also need to budget for airfare, tips for exceptional services, and additional spending money.

Q: What are your top-selling trips?
A:
World Cruises, Antarctica Expeditions, and Safaris– with lots of other exciting adventures mixed in!

Q: Do you recommend Travel Insurance?
A:
Yes! Always! While I can’t require it, I strongly recommend that this is something you always invest in. Should something happen to you, either prior to your trip or during it, the coverage you have matters. I can help you find a plan that is right for your adventure as part of my services. If you choose to decline travel insurance for your trip, I require additional documentation stating as such.

Q: What happens if I need to cancel my trip?
A:
If you need to cancel for any reason, I am here to help you do that. Keep in mind that Cancellation Policies vary from company to company, and it is essential to understand what each policy looks like before putting any money down on your trip. Many policies allow you to reschedule, or may even return a portion of your deposit back within a certain time frame- but some don’t. This is another instance in which the right travel insurance can prove useful and important, as they may be able to offer you more.

Q: Is it safe to travel right now?
A:
Generally, yes! The best time to travel is now! Of course, it is important to understand where you are going and what type of trip you are planning to take. Things such as the political climate of a country, severe weather seasons, and public health issues should all be considered. You can find up-to-date travel advisories on the US Department of State website. For specific concerns, talk with your travel planner.

Q: Why doesn’t CMA book commercial Airfare?
A:
I am always ready to help you research your commercial flights and offer my professional recommendations, however, the booking is up to you. That service does not benefit my clients in any way, as I can’t offer discounts, upgrades or any other benefits.

I also do not book commercial airfare due to potential liability issues related to delays, cancellations, changes, etc. Should issues arise, or if you need to make changes to your flights, it will be faster and easier for you to do so directly.

If you are looking to charter a plane for a private flight, I am fully prepared with a book of travel partners to help you do so.

Q: Why should I use a travel planner? Can’t I do this myself?
A:
Planning your own travel is always an option, however, aside from saving you a lot of time and energy, Travel Planners are professionally trained in this field and know exactly what to look for. We know the ins and outs. We have done our research and select only companies that fit our high standards to partner with, ensuring our clients have the best possible experience. On top of that- if you’re looking for a Private Travel experience, there are some providers that do not advertise to the general public and must be arranged via vetted travel agencies.

Q: If Travel Planners get paid commissions, why do you charge a planning fee?
A:
Travel agents charge a fee because commissions are very small, and a lot goes into creating your perfect travel experience. If for any reason you don’t go, we don’t get paid for the work we’ve already done. It takes hours of research, dozens of phone calls, and meticulous organization to ensure every detail is taken care of on your itinerary. A planning fee ensures we are compensated for our time and the work we do upfront.
